2011-12 -- Played in every game, starting 23 while scoring double-figures in 10 games... Averaged 7.8 points to rank third on the team, while pulling down a second-best 4.1 rebounds per game... He led the team and ranked fourth in the Summit League with 52 steals (1.7 pg)... Also had 65 assists to rank third on the squad... Tallied a career-best nine boards at Utah Valley (11/19), followed by nine more against Longwood (11/26), North Dakota (12/7) and IUPUI (1/3)... Had his first career double-digit scoring game at Oakland (12/3) with 10... Scored double-figures in four straight games while Trinity Hall was injured, 12/28-1/12... Scored a career-best 20 points in the season finale vs. IPFW (2/25)... Earned Academic All-League honors for his work in the classroom.
Independence C.C. -- Scored 10.4 points per game, while grabbing 4.1 rebounds and recording a team-high 68 steals to rank 25th in the country... 17 times during the 2010-11 season, the versatile guard scored in double figures, including a career-high 27 points on 8-of-15 shooting (4-of-8 on 3's) in the Pirate's game with No. 9 Coffeyville C.C... In a game against Hutchinson C.C., Staton finished with a team-season high six steals to go along with 14 points, eight rebounds and two blocks.
Gardner-Webb -- Played his freshman season in 2009-10 as part of the Gardner-Webb program where he averaged 2.7 points per game, 1.2 assists and 1.3 rebounds per game in 23 games. On Jan. 7, 2010, the guard had his best game as a Runnin' Bulldog when he finished with Division I career-highs of five assists, four rebounds and 23 minutes played, while also scoring six points.
High School -- Played his junior and senior seasons at Clarkston HS for head coach Dan Fife... As a senior he led the team to a state semifinal appearance and a conference title with a 25-2 overall record, averaging 12 points, six rebounds, six assists, and three steals per game... As a junior he helped the team to a 24-3 overall record with a conference title and state quarterfinal berth... He averaged 12 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals per game that season... He attended Ferndale HS as a freshman and sophomore... he played AAU for the Legion squad in 2008, and the Tri-County Cobras in 2006 and 2007, earning MVP honors.
Personal -- Born July 10, 1991 in Detroit, Michigan... Son of Tom and Wanda Staton... Has no siblings... Father played basketball at the University of Michigan from 1976-79... Majoring in communications.
