Roos Hire KC Native Brandon Burgette as Assistant Coach
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Mar. 19, 2026) - Head Coach Mark Turgeon continues to build his staff, tapping into the Kansas City connection that he has preached about since taking the job in February for his second assisting coaching hire. A metro native and veteran of the Kansas City coaching scene, Brandon Burgette will man the Roos' sidelines heading into the 2026-27 season.

The UMKC Kangaroos opened their home schedule with a doubleheader against the Creighton Bluejays, marking the first home games of the season. Creighton took the first matchup with a final score of 6-2, putting the Roos on the board with an early loss before the teams returned to the field for game two. UMKC fought to keep momentum going into the second game as they looked to bounce back in front of the home crowd. The Roos ultimately fell in the nightcap as well, with the final score of game two ending at 9-0.

Kansas City Softball dropped both games of a double header at Urban Youth Academy against Creighton. With those results, the Roos fall to 8-14 on the season.
