KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The 2026-27 non-conference slate for Kansas City Men's Basketball has officially been announced, setting the stage for the official start of the Mark Turgeon era. The Roos will play 11 home contests against out-of-league opponents, 10 of which will be held at Municipal Auditorium. Season tickets are available for purchase now with options beginning at just $99.
A first-look opportunity for Roo fans will come on Oct. 24 as KC will welcome Montana State to town for an exhibition in Municipal. The game will be held as part of a doubleheader with the women's basketball team.
The season officially opens on Nov. 2 when the Roos travel to Omaha, Neb. for a meeting with Creighton. The Bluejays also enter a new era in 2026-27, introducing Alan Huss as head coach after Greg McDermott held the seat for 16 seasons. KC has picked up three wins against Creighton all-time with the most recent win coming in the 1995-96 season.
Municipal Auditorium will host Kansas City Men's Basketball regular season action for the first time since the 2018-19 season on Nov. 6 when the Roos take on Southern Illinois. It will be a full day of basketball for KC fans as the Roos' women's basketball squad will begin the big day with a game against Wichita State at 5:30 p.m., followed by a 7:30 p.m. tip for the men's game.
The Roos' longest stint away from home during the non-conference play will come during a three-game stretch from Nov. 9-12. The road trip will start with a game at Jacksonville on Nov. 9, followed by the Showdown in St. Pete, a multi-team event in which the Roos will play Florida A&M and George Mason.
Kansas City returns home for a game against Newman on Nov. 17 before returning to the road to take on Iona in a return from last year's early-season matchup.
Thanksgiving week is sure to leave KC fans satiated with a pair of games at Municipal Auditorium. The Roos will host Green Bay on Nov. 24, the first game against the Phoenix since the 2022-23 season. Kansas City next plays cross-state rival SEMO on Nov. 28, the third time in four seasons that the Roos and Redhawks have gone head-to-head.
The lone game of the non-conference season to be played in the Swinney Center, KC will host Peru State on Nov. 30. It will be the 11th-straight year that the Roos have played at least one game on-campus.
KC kicks off the month of December on the road, traveling to Duquesne on Dec. 5. It will mark the first-ever meeting between the Roos and the Dukes.
Kansas City brings a familiar foe to town as part of the Roos' multi-team event on Dec. 8 and 9. The Roos will play recently departed Summit League rival Denver on Dec. 8 and Eastern Illinois on Dec. 9, with an additional game played between Denver and Sam Houston on Dec. 9.
The final road game of the non-conference slate comes on Dec. 12 as the Roos travel to SEMO, the second-straight season that KC has played a non-conference opponent at home and on the road in the same year.
The final four games before Summit League play will all take place at Municipal Auditorium as Kansas City hosts Lindenwood on Dec. 19 and SIUE on Dec. 21. Following a brief holiday break, KC wraps up non-con with games against Lincoln on Dec. 30 and Spurgeon on Jan. 2.
Single game tickets to catch the new-look Roos will be made available at a later date.
