Trey Booker-Lowery posted his best game as a Roo, going for 21 points in the loss
GRAND FORKS, N.D. - Kansas City Men's Basketball (4-23, 1-12 Summit) fell behind early in the second half and could not recover late against North Dakota (16-14, 10-4 Summit) this evening, falling in an 85-70 decision. Trey Booker-Lowery led Kansas City's scoring efforts, going for a season-high 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting, including a 3-of-4 effort from three-point range.
It was a slow start for the Roos, falling behind by nine points within the first six minutes of the game. Booker-Lowery got things going by knocking down a pair of threes and later a Jayson Petty jumper tied the game up at 23-23. The two sides went blow-for-blow for the rest of the half, Petty nailing a three that put the Roos ahead with just over a minute to go but North Dakota responding with a five-point run to lead by two going into the break.
North Dakota opened the second half on a 17-6 run across the first eight minutes, putting Kansas City behind the eight ball for the rest of the contest. A Booker-Lowery layup followed by a three from Kasheem Grady II pulled KC back within eight, but the Fighting Hawks soon expanded the lead back to double-digits and did not lead by less than 10 for the rest of the game.
Booker-Lowery scored at a 1.0 point per minute rate, more than doubling his previous career-high which came in a 10-point outing at Southern Illinois on Nov. 7. He added a team-high eight rebounds, four of which came on the offensive end. Petty finished with 14 points and Chris Dockery added 10 to round out the Roos' double-digit scorers.
Kansas City remains on the road on Saturday, taking on North Dakota State for a 1 p.m. tip.
