Kansas City Opens the Season Strong at Bob Timmons Classic

Four Roos claimed top 25 placements in the men’s 6k and women’s 5k races
Kansas City men's and women's cross country got their season started off on the right foot at the Bob Timmons Classic at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, Kan. One of over half a dozen schools participating, the Roos sported four total top 25 finishers and 12 Roos placed in the top 40 of both races respectively.Â
The Roos stellar outing was highlighted by Joan Rocha-Navarro. The fifth year senior finished in 10th place at the men's 6k race with an excellent time of 19:15.00 to open the season. After him came freshman Kaleb Glaizer. The Wichita, Kan. native ran a 19:29.56 time, good for 15th place in the 6k race overall. Following the Roos top two performances, were strong outings from Dalton Heller 20:17.98, Evan Keifer 20:30.10, and Anthansius Kibiwott 20:30.13, who ran unattached.Â

On the women's side, Jentrie Alderson ran unattached and finished with a time of 18:48.16 which was good for 7th overall in the 5k race. Maggie Boley added to the Roos strong campaign with a time of 20:16.40 for 25th place among the women. Five other Roos finished in between the 30-40 spots in the race including Kopelyn Delong 20:35.15, Harper Barlow 20:37.79, Madelyn Russell 20:50.53, McKenna Hood (unattached) 21:07.10, and Morgan Binsfield 21:43.14.Â

Up next, the Roos will compete in the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Mo. on Friday September 29. Until then, the Roos will look to rest up, recover and work hard to improve on a strong opening performance.Â
