
Kansas City Runs Hard at Gans Creek Classic

Barlow and Glaizer finished as the top Roo runners in Columbia
Kansas City completed its second cross country meet of the season at the annual Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Mo. on Friday morning. The Roos saw 14 runners compete overall, seven in the men's 8k race and seven in the women's 6k race. In the men's 8k race, the Roos finished 36th overall and scored 1,107 total points. Afterwards, the Roos placed 38th with 1,185 total points in the women's 6k race.Â
On the men's side, the Roos were led by a pair of freshmen in Kaleb Glaizer and Dalton Heller, who both finished with Kansas City's best times in the men's 8k race. Glaizer ran a team best 25:33.6, good for 189 points and a 3:11.6 average split to come in 212th place. The Wichita, Kan. native's best split came in the first 200m where he recorded another team-high 3:04.4 split.Â
Heller contributed as another one of the Roos top performers with a time of 25:55.8, notching 210 points and recording an average split of 3:09.2 to come in 251st place. Heller's best split similarly came at the 200m mark with the Omaha, Neb. native planting a best split at 3:07.7. Other notable performers for Kansas City in the men's 8k race include Sam Cleary who finished with a time of 26:18.2 and finished in 279th place and Evan Kiefer who recorded a time of 26:41.0 and came in 292nd place.Â

For the women, Harper Barlow and Maggie Boley ran the top times for the Roos in the 6k race. Barlow earned the Roos top performance in the 6k race with a time of 22:59.9 to score 200 points and placed 228th among the competition. Barlow's average split was 3:47.7 but her best split came at the 200m mark where she recorded a team best split of 3:46.5 on Friday morning.Â
Next in line for the Roos was Maggie Boley, who came off a strong Bob Timmons Classic performance where she finished at 20:16.4 in the 5k race back in August. In Columbia, Boley finished with a time of 23:21.3 which was good for 231 points and a placement of 270th. Boley's average split came out to be 3:47.4, barely edging out Barlow's 3:47.7 to make it the highest on the team for the 6k race. Additional strong performances by the Roos came in the form of Madelyn Russell's time of 23:56.9 and Alanie Rivera' time of 24:25.9 to come in 294th and 312th place respectively.Â

Up next for the Roos is a trip to the Cornhusker state where Kansas City will compete in the Platte River Rumble in Ashland, Neb. on October 18. In the meantime, the Roos will rest up and recover after a strong showing in Columbia.
