Mariah Belmont, Alanie Rivera, Madelyn Russell and Harper Barlow ran in the women's 6k race

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Kansas City Women's Cross Country ran hard and fought through the difficulty of a new challenge Friday morning, competing in the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships women's 6k race at the Greiner Family Cross Country Course. For the Roos, it was their first time running at the regional cross country meet in two years with the last time competing in postseason play being 2023.

Unsurprisingly, the Roos were led by Mariah Belmont in the race. As a sophomore, Belmont put together a stellar 2025 campaign throughout cross country season, working her way up to Second Team All-League status after a personal record of 21:08.98 at the Summit League Cross Country Championships. Belmont continued on her impressive campaign, getting the Roos top time in the women's 6k of 22:40.1 on Friday morning.

Elsewhere on the course, Harper Barlow paced on with a time of 24:13.2 to finish as the second best Roos runner on the day. Madelyn Russell completed the 6k race with a time of 25:43.6 and Alanie Rivers finished the journey with a time of 26:04.5 in Stillwater.

Kansas City completes cross country season garnering strong results and will look to propel themselves into the next gear as indoor track and field season awaits. The Roos first pair of meets arrive December 5, when KC travels to Pittsburg, Kan. to compete in the Boo Rogers Combine Events and the Crimson and Gold Invite.
