
Kansas City Places Seventh at Summit League Championships

Mariah Belmont grabs a bid to the All-Summit League Second Team following a 6k time of 21:08.98
ASHLAND, NEB. -- Kansas City completed the 2025 cross country season at the Summit League XC Championships Saturday morning with the men coming in seventh place totaling 217 points and the women finishing likewise at 199 points across all of the Roo runners in both the 8k and 6k races. Standing out in a big way was sophomore Mariah Belmont who delivered her best performance to date, finishing the treacherous 6k course with a time of 21:08.98 which was good for 14th place and gave her a new career-best time. Belmont was awarded with a bid to the All-Summit League Second Team for her stellar efforts at the conference meet.
Also running well were Haprer Barlow and Alanie Rivera who nearly came in the top 50 in the women's 6k race. Barlow produced a time of 22:31.65, a new career-best mark for the third-year Roo. Right on her tail was Rivera who finished with a 23:04.7 time which also marked a career-best for the senior. Kansas City saw strong career-best performances out of there top three finishers on the women's side. On the men's side, Dalton Heller placed the highest on the team, totaling an 8k time of 25:21.9 to earn a spot among the 50 competitors. Additionally, M.J. Foster also brought the heat in the form of a 25:53.36 8k time to come just one spot shy of the top 50 at the conference meet.
Kansas City flips the page to the beginning of a new chapter as the Roos embark on the 2025-26 indoor track and field season which kicks off in early December at Washburn.
