Kansas City travels to Columbia for the team’s second meet of the 2024 campaign
After a near month layoff, the Roos are ready to roar on the runway again as Kansas City Cross Country looks to build momentum in their second meet of the season at the Gans Creek Invitational in Columbia, Mo. on Friday morning. The meet will start with the men's 8k race at 8:00 a.m. followed by the 6k race at 8:45 a.m. on the Gans Creek Cross Country Course.Â
Last time out, Kansa City ran at Rim Rock Farm in the Bob Timmons Classic and performed admirably with four top 25 finishers to their name. Included in the top 15 were Joan Rocha-Navarro and Kaleb Glaizer for the men's 6k race. Jentrie Alderson and Maggie Boley landed in the top 25 finishers in the women's 5k race.Â
Roos To Watch:Â
- Joan Rocha-Navarro - The fifth year graduate placed 10th at the Bob Timmons Classic with a time of 19:15.00 to open his final season. Look for Rocha-Navarro to lead the way for the Roos in the men's 8k in Columbia.Â
- Jentrie Alderson - The Salina, Kan. native completed the women's 5k race with a time of 18:48.16 to finish in 7th place overall. Alderson ran a 21:32.6 6k time at the Gans Creek Classic in 2023 and will look for another strong performance Friday morning.Â
- Kaleb Glaizer - The freshman competed in his first collegiate race at the Bob Timmons Classic and delivered the Roos a top 15 finish, good for second best on the team among the men's side. Glazier's 19:29.56 performance in the 6k will look to be improved upon heading into his first 8k race at the college cross country level.Â
Following the Roos second meet in Columbia, the following races will take place in Ashland, Neb. in the Platte River Rumble on Oct. 18, their final test before the Summit League Championships.
