Kansas City Women’s Basketball Closes Non-Conference Schedule at Home

The Roos host Westminster tomorrow at 2 p.m.
THE STARTERS
- Kansas City Women's Basketball returns home following a four-game stretch on the road that included the UTRGV Holiday Classic. The Roos will look to snap a six-game losing skid after falling to Texas A&M Corpus Christi, 59-64, and UTRGV, 54-71, in the multi-team event.
- Emani Bennett and Alayna Contreras led the Roos in the UTRGV Holiday Classic, combining for 75 points and 177 minutes across the two games. Em. Bennett or Contreras have led KC in scoring in all but one game this year with Em. Bennett leading the team in points on eight occasions and Contreras doing so in five.
- The Roos have experimented with nine different starting lineups this season, most recently starting five returners against UTRGV. Em. Bennett and Contreras have been consistent throughout lineup changes as the only Roos to start in all 14 games this season. Zaire Harrell (9), Lisa Thomas (9) and Tamia Ugass (6) are the only other Roos with more than five starts this season.
- Contreras has been a consistent on the court for Kansas City playing 40 minutes in back-to-back games on Thursday and Friday last week. She matched her career-high firing off 25 field goal attempts on Friday against UTRGV.
- Em. Bennett improved her previous career-high by one, knocking down 27 points against Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Thursday.
- KC currently leads the league in offensive rebounds with 14.5 per game. The Roos rank 42 in the nation.
SCOUTING WESTMINSTER
- The Blue Jays enter the game after a loss against Wheaton, 61-65 on Saturday.
- The last meeting between Kansas City and Westminster came on Nov. 7, 2022, with the Roos defeating the Blue Jays 91-49 in the Swinney Center. Saturday's game marks the second meeting between the two programs.
- Annette Ramirez leads the Blue Jays in scoring, averaging 22.4 points per game. She is currently shooting .442 from the field and playing 32.8 minutes per game.
- Following the match in KC, Westminster returns to conference play hosting Webster and Greenville on Jan. 4 and Jan. 8.
- Westminster averages 17.9 free throws made per game ranking them second in their conference and third among Division III programs.
