The 100-Point victory saw the Roos set program records for lowest point total allowed, steals in a game, three pointers in a game and margin of victory.
KANSAS CITY - Plenty of historic occurrences took place on the Swinney Center hardwood as Kansas City (3-2) blew the doors off Calvary 119-19 on Monday evening. The Roos started the game off on a 31-3 run, holding the Warriors to under 15% shooting from the field for the majority of the first half. Kansas City held Calvary to single digits in the first half grabbing 37 rebounds, the highest mark in a half in program history.Â
The second half saw the Roos shoot 65% from the floor and 60% from three point range and outscore the Warriors 55-10. Kansas City finished the game shooting over 50% from the field and 50% from three, a feat that hasn't been done since Feb. 9, 2023 against Western Illinois.Â
Kansas City had seven players reach double figures in scoring with Jamar Brown leading the pack, notching 22 points, his third 20+ point outing of the season. Cameron Faas knocked down five three pointers to finish with 17 points. Jayson Petty came in third on the team in scoring with 16 points. Kasheem Grady totaled 10 points, nine assists and five steals.Â
KEY MOMENTS
- 1H - 18:03 / 9-0 | The Roos opened the game sizzling from three point range as Jason Petty knocked down a triple, assisted by Keshawn Grady, to start the Roos off three-for-three from long range.Â
- 1H - 13:43 / 23-5 | Defense was turned into offense when freshman Ring Nyeri picked off a pass by the Warriors and shuffled the ball up to a streaking Babacar Diallo to score two of the Roos 10 points on the fast break in the first half.Â
- 1H - 5:25 / 47-6 | The first half three point barrage continued for the Roos when Grady followed a Cameron Faas defensive rebound by stepping into a pull-up trey from the left wing, making it Kansas City's six made three pointer of the evening.Â
- 2H - 16:26 / 81-11 | Following an Anderson Kopp defensive rebound, the Roos got busy on the other side of the floor as Gob Gob fed the lurking Josh Ijeh for a two-handed slam dunk to put Kansas City up by a 70 point margin.Â
- 2H / 7:32 / 104-17 | The Roos passed the 100-point mark in style as Zack Markus canned KC's 15th three pointer of the game. The very next possession, Markus nabbed a steal and threw the ball up the floor for an electric Diallo dunk.Â
- 2H / 1:29 / 119-19 | Markus remained pesky on defense until the final buzzer, earning his fourth steal of the game which led to a Gob layup on the other end to put the Roos up by a historic 100-point margin, the first time Kansas City has beat an opponent by triple digits in program history.Â
