Men's Basketball Hits San Juan for Puerto Rico Clasico

The Roos will play games against American, UAlbany and UPR-Rio Piedras
First Five
- Kansas City Men's Basketball is in action in San Juan, P.R. this week, playing three games against American, UAlbany and UPR-Rio Piedras. Under the guidance of Coach Menzies, Kansas City has a 2-4 record in Multi-Team Events across the past two years.
- The Roos are coming off a record-setting 119-19 drubbing of Calvary on Monday, the largest win in program history. Kansas City had seven players score in double figures against the Warriors, led by Jamar Brown's third 20-point performance of the season.
- Kansas City is at the top of the NCAA in steals per game currently, averaging 15.0. Five Roos sit in the top-10 in the Summit in steals per game: Brown (2.4; 1st), Cameron Faas (2.4; 1st), Kasheem Grady II (1.8; 6th), Babacar Diallo (1.6; 8th) and Anderson Kopp (1.6; 8th).
- Faas found his shooting stride against the Warriors, going for a season-high 17 points on 5-of-6 three-point shooting. Faas has knocked down five-plus triples five different times across the past two seasons.
- Grady II stepped into a starting role for the first time in his career on Monday, putting up show-stopping numbers. The junior guard went for 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting, adding a career-high nine assists and five steals.
Scouting American
- American comes to Puerto Rico with a 1-4 record, including three-straight losses to Siena, North Carolina and High Point.
- Matt Rogers leads the Eagles offensively, posting 14.4 points per game on 46.8% shooting.
- The Roos and Eagles have met twice in the past with American winning both matches.
- The last meeting came on Dec. 21, 1989, a 76-71 win for the Eagles.
Scouting UAlbany
- UAlbany enters the week with a 3-1 record, holding opponents to 67.3 points per game.
- Byron Joshua leads the Great Danes in scoring, assists and steals.
- These teams have met once in the past, a 62-59 win for the Great Danes on Nov. 17, 2012 in Uncasville, Conn.
