Allen Mukeba scored a career-high 18 points to lead the Roos to a Big Sky-Summit Challenge victory
KANSAS CITY - Kansas City Men's Basketball (7-10, 1-1 Summit) made shots early and often this evening, knocking down 20 first half field goals en route to an 83-67 victory over Portland State (10-5, 1-1 Big Sky). The win keeps Kansas City undefeated at home, their sixth-straight victory in the Swinney Center to start the season. It also gave the Summit League a much-needed victory on the final evening of the inaugural Big Sky-Summit Challenge.
The Roos never trailed by more than a point, using an 11-point run midway through the first half to jump out to a double-digit lead. There was no drop off from the starting five to the bench, as Kansas City's reserves scored 46 points, compared to just 18 for the Vikings. Allen David Mukeba Jr. led the charge, finishing with a career-high 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting.
In his first start of the season, Babacar Diallo gave the Roos a spark at the point guard position, finishing with a career-high seven assists and pulling down five rebounds. He and fellow point guard Khristion Courseault finished with a combined 13 assists and just two turnovers. In addition, Jamar Brown dropped his second-straight double-double, going for 11 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
