Roos Resume Summit League Play Against North Dakota State
1/10/2024 3:11:00 PM | Men's Basketball
KC will host the Bison tomorrow at 7 p.m.
- Kansas City Men's Basketball returns to Summit League play this week for a pair of games at the Swinney Center, where the Roos are 6-0 on the season. KC's six-straight home wins to open the season is the most since 2019-20, when the Roos reached that same mark. The last time KC opened home play with seven-straight wins was in 2015-16.
- The Roos continue to boast rebounding as one of their greatest advantages. Kansas City owns an average rebounding margin of plus-7.3, the best in the Summit League and 30th in the nation. KC dominates on the offensive boards, averaging a league-best 13.76 per game, ranking 23rd in the NCAA. All seven of Kansas City's wins have come when winning the battle of the boards, averaging a 12.7 edge in those games.
- Jamar Brown continues to establish himself as a double-double threat, notching two-straight and four in the past six games. He has five double-doubles on the season, ranking second in the Summit and tying Josiah Allick for the most by a Roo since 2011-12.
- Allen David Mukeba Jr. had an efficient night in Kansas City's recent win over Portland State, going for a career-high 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting while playing just 17 minutes. Mukeba ranks fifth on the team with an average of 8.2 points per game, but is the team leader in points per 40 minutes, averaging 16.6.
- Babacar Diallo earned his first start of the season in the win over Portland State, and made full use of the opportunity. Primarily playing the point guard position, he dished out a career-high seven assists, besting his previous high of four.
North Dakota State Notes
- North Dakota State, selected to finish third in the league, enters Thursday's match up with a 7-9 record, including an 0-1 mark in Summit play. The Bison have dropped five-straight, including their conference opener against South Dakota.
- This will be the 23rd meeting between the two programs, with NDSU owning a 14-8 advantage all-time. There is less disparity in games playing in Kansas City, with the Roos winning 5-of-11 match ups.
- NDSU won the last meeting between these two squads on Feb. 16, 2023, snapping a three-game Kansas City winning streak in the series.
- Since rejoining the Summit in 2020, Kansas City holds a 4-3 edge in the head-to-head series.
- The Bison will look to score effectively, ranking second in the Summit in points per game (77.1) and first in field goal percentage (47.5).
