Roos Fall to Bison in Home Opening Doubleheader

Kansas City was unable to battle back after the Bison got ahead early in both games
KANSAS CITY, Mo - Kansas City (5-23, 0-2) dropped both games in their Summit League opener to North Dakota State (18-11, 2-0). Game one was an offensive outburst by the Bison where they put double-digits on the board in a 10-0 win. Game two was a much tighter contest, but a three-run third inning proved to be the difference in the 4-1 Bison win.

The Roos will try to avoid a series sweep in the series finale tomorrow against North Dakota State at 11 a.m.
GAME 1 KEY MOMENTS
- Top 1 / 0-1 | North Dakota State got on the board first with an RBI double to deep center field. The following inning, a bloop single added another run to their score.
- Top 3 / 0-4 | Bailey Brumley came in after a Bison home run that plated two and retired the side in order, including a strikeout.
- Bottom 5 / 0-10 | Sydney Nichols hit a single to break the perfect game and Kiki McCrea worked a two-out walk but the Roos left them stranded.

- Nichols's 5th-inning single was her 23rd hit of the season and raised her batting average to .280.
- North Dakota State nearly doubled Kansas City in plate appearances, sending 29 to the plate compared to Kansas City's 16.
- The Bison got a run across in all five innings, including three in both the fourth and fifth innings.

- Top 3 / 0-3 | The Bison push three across the plate to take an early lead.
- Bottom 5 / 1-4 | Gaby LaFavor hit a one-out single and advanced to second on an error. Amelia Fitzgerald would go on to hit a single to score LaFavor and get the Roos' first run of the day.
- Bottom 7 / 1-4 | Lexy Smith started the inning with a base hit, but the Roos were unable to form a rally around it.
- The Roos went the first nine innings of this series before scoring their lone run of the day in the fifth inning.
- Six different Roos recorded a hit.
- This loss marks the sixth consecutive to North Dakota State, with the last win coming in 2021.
