Kansas City awaits its fate for the Summit League Championships
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Kansas City Softball (16-31, 6-12 Summit) fell in the regular season finale to Missouri (27-26) this evening, 7-0. Delilah Robles did not allow a hit through the first three innings of the game, but the Tigers used a pair of home runs in the fourth to create separation.
Kansas City seemed to have some early momentum, tallying the first two hits of the game on a single by Elleana Navarro in the second and a double by Adelyn French in the third. Robles tallied a pair of strikeouts in the first two innings and went through the first 3.1 innings without surrendering a hit, but the Tigers used two home runs in the span of three batters to take the lead. Missouri scored two more runs in the fourth and three in the fifth to take a seven-run lead, but Brooke Seppi came on for a 1-2-3 bottom of the sixth to take the game the distance.
The Roos had six base runners on the day, led by Katie Noble, who used a single and a walk to reach base twice. Robles and Alyssa Droge each finished with two strikeouts from the circle.
Kansas City currently holds the sixth spot in the Summit League standings with one weekend of league play to go. The Roos will take the weekend off and will await their fate as South Dakota State (5-9; 5th) takes on North Dakota State and North Dakota (4-10; 7th) takes on St. Thomas. KC holds tiebreakers over both teams.
