Kansas City takes on NDSU in Summit League and Home Opener

Kansas City kicks off a six-game home stand against NDSU before hosting Kansas on Tuesday
Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City will look to start fresh in the Summit League opener, amending its current eight-game losing streak.
- The Roos finished fifth in the Summit League last year with a 9-11 conference record. In the Summit League preseason poll, the Roos were projected to finish fifth again this season.
- Senior Ally Vonfeldt leads the Roos at the plate with the highest batting average at .351, the most hits at 26 and is tied for the most home runs with two.
- Katie Noble is an offensive and defensive staple for Kansas City. She leads the Roos in the circle with a 7.29 ERA, throwing 17 strikeouts so far this season and notching a no-hitter against Lamar. Noble leads all the freshmen class at bat with 19 hits and 9 RBIs.
- In their last matchup against Kansas, Katherine Karnatz hit her first triple of the season. This was her second career triple, she earned the first against Western Illinois in 2022. As a team, Kansas City has recorded three triples so far this season against Lamar, Northern Colorado and Kansas.
North Dakota State Notes
- North Dakota State comes into the matchup hot on a two-game winning streak with wins over Purdue and Samford.
- The Bison are currently on a four-game winning streak when matched up with the Roos. Their last two wins were in Fargo, ND last season.
- Carley Goetschius leads NDSU with a .398 batting average. She has batted in 16 runs for the Bison this season, the second-most RBIs on the team.
Kansas Notes
- The Jayhawks have only played one game following their last matchup with the Roos falling to No. 22 Witchita State.
- Shayna Espy has seen 86 at-bats for the Jayhawks with a .314 avg.
- In their matchup earlier this season, Kansas beat Kansas City in five innings scoring eight runs.
- This is the first time since 2014 the Jayhawks traveled to Kansas City to play the Roos.
