Kansas City struggled to match Bison offense late in the game

KANSAS CITY, Mo - Kansas City (5-24, 0-3) fell to North Dakota State (19-11, 3-0) 11-1 concluding its first home stand in Summit League play. Solid pitching and defense kept the Roos in it through three innings, but the Bison offense put up a seven-run fourth inning and three-run fifth inning to open up its lead.

KEY MOMENTS

Top 1 / 0-0 | NDSU put two runners on base to start the game. Jenna Milan got the Roos out of the inning with three consecutive outs, including a strikeout.
Top 2 / 0-0 | The Roos go three-up, three-down on two more strikeouts from Milan. Lexy Smith ended the inning with a diving catch on a pop-up in the infield.
Top 3 / 0-1 | The Bison got on the board first with an RBI single to right field. The Roos held NDSU, retiring the next batter.
Bottom 3 / 0-1 | KC put together a string of hits to get into scoring position. Nichols ran home after a single from Amelia Fitzgerald but was ultimately thrown out at the plate. NDSU went to work in the next inning adding seven runs.
Bottom 4 / 1-8 | Katherine Karnatz rallied the Roos with a double to deep right-center field. She advanced to third on a fielder's choice, later scoring the first run for the Roos on a wild pitch.

STATS TO NOTE

Jenna Milan recorded four strikeouts on the day, bringing her season total to 12 strikeouts in 32.1 innings pitched.
Karnatz's double marks her fourth on the season, tying for third on the team.
The Roos put up seven hits in the game, the most out of any game in the three-game series.
