11/23/2023 12:57:00 PM | Men's Basketball
The Roos play UNCG tomorrow morning and will be guaranteed two other games
Starting Five
- Kansas City Men's Basketball looks to get back on the winning track in paradise this weekend, participating in the 2023 Baha Mar Nassau Invitational. This will be the Roos' second-ever trip to the Bahamas, the first coming in 2019 for the Island of Bahamas Showcase. KC went 2-1 in that tournament, defeating George Washington and East Carolina before losing to Liberty.
- The Roos are still waiting for a breakout performance on the offensive end as no player has reached the 20-point mark yet this season. Anderson Kopp currently leads Kansas City with a 14.0 point per game average and Jamar Brown's 18-point showing against St. Mary on Nov. 11 is the team's single-game scoring high so far.
- For the first time this year, the Roos switched up their starting lineup for the game against Colorado State. After starting the first three games with Khristion Courseault in the point guard position, Coach Menzies went with Artese Stapleton at the one against the Rams. Stapleton went for three points, knocking down his only attempt of the night.
- Kansas City has demonstrated its ability on the defensive end, holding teams to a Summit-low 68.2 points per game and forcing 18.5 turnovers per game, ranking 11th in the nation. Artese Stapleton leads the team with an average of 2.0 steals per game, which ranks second in the Summit and 97th in the NCAA.
- Production off the bench has been a theme for Kansas City so far this season, averaging 29.25 bench points per game which ranks second in the Summit and 58th in the NCAA. Allen David Mukeba Jr. has led Kansas City's production off the pine, averaging 9.3 points per game.
UNC Greensboro Notes
- This will be the first-ever meeting between the Roos and the Spartans.
- UNCG enters the Bahamas with a 2-1 record, coming off of a 78-72 win over No. 14 Arkansas for the program's first-ever ranked win.
- Keyshaun Langley and Mikeal Brown-Jones lead the Spartan offense, averaging 20.3 and 18.3 points per game, respectively.
- The Spartans will take care of the ball, ranking 51st in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.48.
- Kobe Langley ranks ninth in the nation in assists per game, averaging 6.7.
