The Roos travel to Stillwater for OSU Mizuno Classic this weekend

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City Softball (4-16) dropped both games in their home opener against Southeast Missouri State (12-10) and Iowa (13-8). Lexy Smith was the only Roo to get a hit in both games of the triangle.

GAME 1 | SEMO-7 v KC-1 | KEY MOMENTS

Top 1 / 0-2 | The Redhawks started hot with a two-run homerun to grab the lead.
Bottom 2 / 1-2 | Kloe Hilbrenner broke into this Roos' hit column with KC's first hit and RBI of the day, scoring Ashley Thorne.
Top 3 / 1-4 | A high-flying pop-up that dropped between the second baseman and right fielder gave SEMO two more runs.
Top 5 / 1-6 | A pair of mental miscues in the fifth gave the Redhawks two more.
Top 7 / 1-7 | Jenna Milan came into close and one final run crossed the plate for SEMO.

GAME 1 | SEMO-7 v KC-1 | STATS TO NOTE

Hilbrenner, Smith and Ally Vonfeldt were the only Roos to record a hit in the game.
Mia Hoveland tallied five strikeouts in six innings, including three in the fourth inning to strikeout the side.
Ashley Thorne swiped her fourth stolen base of the season, remaining a perfect 4-for-4.

GAME 2 | IOWA-4 v KC-0 | KEY MOMENTS

Top 1 / 0-3 | Camryn Stickel started the game on the mound and gave up a three-run blast in her first frame.
Top 2 / 0-4 | Kansas City had two close calls on potential outs at second and Iowa pushed another run across.
Bottom 5 / 0-4 | Lexy Smith got the first base hit and base runner for KC and ended the hopes of a perfect game for Iowa's pitcher Greer.
Bottom 7 / 0-4 | Stickel kept the Roos in the game, but a late two-out rally started by Delainey Fenoglio fell short.

GAME 2 | IOWA-4 v KC-0 | STATS TO NOTE

Stickel threw a complete game and held Iowa hitless in the final five innings after giving up four runs in the first two innings.
In her return from injury, Lexy Smith got a hit in each game of the day.
Fenoglio was the only other Roo to get a hit in game two.

Kansas City travels to Stillwater, Okla. for the OSU Mizuno Invite where the Roos will play a duo of games against No. 11 Oklahoma State and RV Wichita State. First pitch is scheduled for noon against Wichita State on Friday.
