Kansas City Weekly Notes
- The Kansas City Women's Soccer (8-1-4, 0-0-2) program hits the road for the first time in Western Athletic Conference (WAC) play with a pair of games at Grand Canyon (2-9-1) on Thursday at 9 p.m. CST and at CSU Bakersfield (6-6-1) on Saturday at 9 p.m. CST.
- The Roos opened up the conference season with a pair of double-overtime ties last weekend at Durwood Soccer Stadium, both 1-1 draws against UT Rio Grande Valley and preseason WAC favorite Seattle U. It marks the fourth-straight year the Roos have gone undefeated in their first two conference games.
- Of 338 Division I women's soccer programs, the Roos are one of only 21 programs that have one-or-zero losses on the year (through Oct. 7 games). The Roos are sitting on a school-best start at 8-1-4.
- On Friday, Kansas City will try to keep Grand Canyon winless at home this year as the Lopes have dropped all six previous home contests being out-scored 13-2.
- In the all-time series with the Lopes, Kansas City is 5-1-1 with a 2-1-0 mark in Phoenix, Ariz. In the three prevous meetings played on the Grand Canyon home turf, the game was decided by a single goal (W, 1-0; L, 2-1; W, 1-0).
- CSU Bakersfield has been dominated in the series, with Kansas City winning the previous eight meetings by a combined 24-2 score. In fact, the Roos have recorded seven shutouts in the eight contests and currently have a four-game shutout streak against the Roadrunners (outscoring them by a 13-0 count).
- The tie last Sunday to Seattle U secured the Roos third-straight winning season and sixth in the last seven years. Kansas City has six regular-season games remaining and stands with a school-best start to their year at 8-1-4.
- The Roos' defense has posted six shutouts and has allowed just eight goals in 13 games (.576 gapg), which ranks No. 20 nationally and first in the conference. The unit has allowed one-or-fewer goals in 12-of-13 games.
- The Roos are off to a school-record start at 8-1-4. They were undefeated through seven games, prior to its first loss in game eight on Sept. 17 against Creighton (L, 2-1).
- With six shutouts on the year, the Roos have now compiled 16 shutouts through 34 games (47.1%) dating back to last year. The two shutouts in the first two games this year is a first in the 11-year history of the women's soccer program.
- With a 8-1-2 non-conference mark this year, the Roos end with the best non-league slate in the 11-year history of the program. Since 2008, Kansas City stands 16-4-2 in non-conference contests (not including WAC postseason tournament).
- Kansas City is nearing a program milestone. Through Oct. 7, the Roos sit at 99 all-time wins since the program started in 2009. Overall, the program is 99-92-25.
- The four double-overtime games played in 2019 ties for the second-most in a single-season in KC history. The 2011 team compiled six, double-overtime games.
- Sophomore forward Rylan Childers presently ranks among the top-50 in the NCAA in six different major offensive categories. She is among the nation's best in total goals (8), game-winning goals (3), assists per game (0.55), total assists (6), total points (22) and points per game (1.82).
