Men's Soccer stunned on the road vs. San Jose State

San Jose, Calif. -- Kansas City lost this afternoon to conference opponent San Jose State by a score of 6-0. The Roos move to 1-6 and 0-2 in conference play.Â
The Roos were overwhelmed in the first half, as the San Jose State Spartans lit up the scoreboard with six goals. Spartans F Rodolfo Castro struck first in the 10th minute, off of a PK. Just four minutes later, he buried another goal past Roos GK Filippo Errico for a 2-0 lead. Kansas City gave up four more goals in the final 15 minutes of the first half and went into the second half with mountain to climb, down by six.Â
Defensively, the Roos blanked the Spartans in the second half, as GK Filippo Errico made two incredible saves. However, offensively Kansas City was shutout. The team was able to put seven shots on goal, but couldn't find the back of the net. The season leader in shots for the Roos, Kevin Komodi, led the team in this game as well with three shots and two on goal.  The total goals allowed by GK Filippo Errico was the most in his collegiate career.Â

"I'm proud of the guys effort in the second half.," head coach Rick Benben said. "They kept plugging away and hung in the game. We have a talented group of young guys, who are going through some tough growing pains, and we are looking forward to Seattle."
