Kansas City Prepares to Host No. 10 Michigan State

Kansas City Men's Soccer plays host to one of the biggest regular season games in Durwood Soccer Stadium history on Friday evening, welcoming 10th-ranked Michigan State. The Spartans will be just the fourth top-10 opponent to come to Durwood since its opening in 2009.
The Roos are coming off a road trip that saw them go 1-0-1, including a draw with No. 3 SMU and a win over Drake in which KC was down a man for the majority of the second half. Kansas City is now unbeaten in its last seven regular season road matches.
Mark Ramarola was named the Summit League Offensive Peak Performer of the Week on Tuesday following his heroics against SMU. He tallied the equalizer in the 90th minute, playing 78 total minutes and attempting a team-high three shots.
Brandon Kincaid was a stalwart in goal in the win over Drake, making a season-high four saves en route to his third shutout of the season. Kincaid is currently tied for seventh in the NCAA with three clean sheets on the year.
Ian Witis-Hughes scored the game-winner against the Bulldogs, entering as a substitute in the 30th minute and scoring in the 32nd on assists from Brevyn Cole and Brice Miller Jr. The goal was the second of the season for Witis-Hughes and was his first career game-winner.

Michigan State Notes

Michigan State has shot up the rankings with a 4-0-1 start to the season, scoring multiple goals in each of its first four games before a 0-0 draw with Pitt last week.
The Roos and Spartans have each played, and beaten, SIUE on the young season. Kansas City picked up a 5-0 victory over the Cougars on Aug. 20, while MSU won 4-0 on Aug. 27.
The Spartans are led offensively by Leo Conneh, who averages 1.4 points per game. Six different MSU players have scored multiple goals on the year.
As a team, Michigan State boasts the ninth-best scoring offense in the nation, averaging 3.2 goals per game. The Spartans have a +12 goal differential, the eighth-best in the NCAA.
These teams have met just once before, a 2-0 victory for Kansas City in East Lansing last season. Raphael Kistmann scored the game-winner in the 50th minute.
