CHICAGO, Ill. – UMKC volleyball started Western Athletic Conference play against Chicago State on Friday, Sept. 23, sweeping the Cougars at Jones Convocation Center in Chicago, Illinois.
Without having a player reach double-digits in kills, UMKC (8-6, 1-0 WAC) was able to sweep Chicago State (2-13, 0-1 WAC) on a .241 team hitting percentage, with freshman Alicia Harrington (Cedar Falls, Iowa) and junior Devan Porter (Bettendorf, Iowa) leading the attacking efforts with nine kills each.

After the timeout, UMKC went on an 8-3 run to regain the lead at 20-19. A back-and-forth battle for the final few points was won by the 'Roos, as they took the set 25-23.
