
'Roos Drop to SEC?s Arkansas in Four Sets

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – UMKC volleyball suffered its third-straight loss this weekend, falling to Arkansas on the Razorback's home court in the finale of the Arkansas Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 17. The three-game losing streak marks the longest of the season for the 'Roos. Senior Kaylyn Brandt (Sumner, Iowa) earned all-tournament honors.
UMKC (7-6) picked up the win in set one against the Southeastern Conference foe, topping the Razorbacks (2-9) 25-22, hitting .452 as a team. Senior Emma Hagedorn (Parkville, Mo.) powered the Kangaroo offense through the first set, tallying five kills on a .714 hitting efficiency. Senior Madison Mosier (Lee's Summit, Mo.) and junior Devan Porter (Bettendorf, Iowa) each notched three kills in the win.
The 'Roos were unable to get things going the remainder of the match, getting held to a -.062 hitting percentage in set two, committing nine attacking errors, and ultimately falling 25-15. UMKC was again plagued by errors in the third set, committing eight on attacks. The team hit .133 in the set, but only two 'Roos, Hagedorn and Mosier, were in the positive for the set, hitting .333 and .375, respectively. UMKC lost the third set 25-18.
Despite reducing the number of errors in the fourth set, UMKC just couldn't get things going, falling behind 7-0 to start the set. The Razorbacks hit .343, and UMKC accumulated just 25 attack attempts, converting on just seven. Arkansas finished off the 'Roos 25-16 in the final set to win 3-1.
UMKC opens WAC play on Friday, Sept. 23, heading to Chicago, Illinois to face Chicago State.
