
Roos Breeze Past Lopes, 3-0

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Led by senior Madison Mosier (Lee's Summit, Mo.), UMKC volleyball swept Grand Canyon in Phoenix, Arizona, on Thursday evening to with their fourth-straight match.
UMKC (14-10, 7-4 WAC) topped GCU (4-19, 0-11 WAC) 25-18 in the first set of the night, with freshman Alicia Harrington (Cedar Falls, Iowa) leading the way offensively. Harrington tallied six kills in the set, hitting .455 and adding a block assist to her stat line. Senior Kaylyn Brandt (Sumner, Iowa) tallied 16 of her 43 assists on the night in the first game, and freshman Mykal Sadler (Des Moines, Iowa) aided the UMKC attack with five kills.
The Roos took down the Lopes 25-20 in set two, with seniors Emma Hagedorn (Parkville, Mo.) and Mosier tallying four kills each. Hagedorn didn't commit an error on seven attacks for a .571 hitting efficiency, while Mosier posted a .500 percentage on six attacks with one error. As a team, the Roos hit .303 with 14 kills, and Brandt tallied 13 assists.
UMKC closed the door on the Lopes with a 25-14 win in the third set. Mosier tabbed seven kills on seven attacks for a 1.000 hitting percentage, and Hagedorn matched that efficiency with four kills on four attacks of her own. The Roos hit a potent .565 as a team with 14 kills.
Mosier led the Roos with 12 kills, while Harrington tallied 10, and Hagedorn added nine. The Roos hit .361 as a team, with five players hitting .400 or better on the night. Brianna Starr (Blue Springs, Mo.) tabbed 12 digs for the team-lead, and Devan Porter (Bettendorf, Iowa) added 11.
The Roos look to continue their winning ways with a Saturday afternoon match against CSU Bakersfield that is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. CT.
