Roos Sweep Cougars on Think Pink Night

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – UMKC volleyball picked up a sweep in Western Athletic Conference play on Friday night, taking down the Chicago State Cougars, 25-22, 25-18, 25-20, on Think Pink Night at Swinney Recreation Center.
UMKC (11-10, 4-4 WAC) hit .289 as a team in the first set of the night, with senior Madison Mosier (Lee's Summit, Mo.) leading the way with a .600 hitting efficiency, tallying six kills on 10 attempts. Kaylyn Brandt (Sumner, Iowa) recorded 14 assists in the set and notched three digs to aid the Roos.
The Roos recorded just 12 kills in the second set, but held the Cougars (3-20, 1-7 WAC) to a .105 team hitting efficiency. Freshman Alicia Harrington (Cedar Falls, Iowa) recorded three kills to lead the way, while Moser, Emma Hagedorn (Parkville, Mo.), Devan Porter (Bettendorf, Iowa), and Mykal Sadler (Des Moines, Iowa) each notched two kills.
UMKC finished things off hitting .367 as a team in the final set, to take its match efficiency up to .309. Four Roos tallied three kills, and Brandt notched 13 assists.
On the night, Mosier led the team with 11 kills, hitting a team-high .458, while Porter contributed 10 kills on a .259 efficiency. Brandt finished with 38 assists and junior Adasia Bromberger (Omaha, Neb.) racked up a team-best 13 digs.
UMKC is back in action next week, as the Roos host Utah Valley on Thursday, Oct. 27, and Seattle U on Saturday, Oct. 29.
