The Blue & Gold split a two-game homestand with a 2-1 win over Alabama A&M and a 2-1 loss to Missouri State.
Against the Bulldogs, Kansas City wasted no time in getting off to a fast start when midfielder Alyssa Elver (2) placed a corner-kick near Alabama A&M's goalie box as forward Taylor Bare (4) scored via header-shot during the third minute.
A little over a minute later, Kansas City took a 2-0 lead when forward Ellie Chadick broke away from the Bulldog defense as she fired a shot that was saved by keeper Linda Aboagye. However, forward Hannah Chadick (1) was there for the rebound and score.
During the 19th minute, the Bulldogs cut the deficit in half when forward Nycole Henderson broke away and split two Kangaroo defenders as she shot it by keeper Nina Tzianos for the goal.
Nevertheless, Kansas City's defense held steady as it was able to hold on for the win and out-shoot the Bulldogs, 23-4.
In the matchup against Missouri State, the 'Roos took a 1-0 lead during the 16th minute when H. Chadick (3) dribbled down the middle of the field and found Bare (5) on the right side for the score.
The Bears would later tie the game in the first period when forward Rachel Weimer (4) controlled the ball a little past midfield and broke away from the Kangaroo defense. With Tzianos charging, Weimer was able to sneak it by her for the goal. Midfielder Michelle Sommer (1) was credited with the assist.
In the second period, neither squad was able to breakthrough until the 87th minute when Bears midfielder Michelle Mayne-Nicholls (1) dribbled down the middle of the field and fed a streaking Molly Brewer (2) on the right side for the score.
With little time remaining, Kangaroo midfielder Ashley Gann had an opportunity to tie the game when she controlled the ball near the Bears box. Yet, her shot sailed high as Missouri State was able to hold on for the win.
Two 'Roos Earn Weekly Awards
Earlier this week, forward's Taylor Bare and Hannah Chadick earned league player of the week awards.
