Kansas City Can’t Overcome Missouri State, Turn Page to Conference Play

Roos committed 21 attack errors and were outscored 56-37 in straight sets loss to Bears
SAINT LOUIS, MO. - Coming off a five-set thriller of a match to Saint Louis the night before, Kansas City Volleyball (1-12) couldn't overcome Missouri State (5-6) Saturday afternoon, dropping the match in straight sets, 25-13, 25-19, 25-22. The Roos fended off an early Bears 4-0 run and made it a four point deficit at the 11-7 mark. The Bears were too sharp in the opening set as MSU went on a 14-6 run to claim a 1-0 advantage.
Set two saw the Roos jump above the Bears 6-3 early on before getting to the 10 point and 15 point mark first. The Roos had a 19-17 lead prior to an eight point unanswered run by Missouri State. In set three, KC took an early 3-1 lead but failed to keep the lead as the Bears earned three straight points and didn't look back. Missouri State didn't trail for the rest of the match and closed the match with the three set sweep.
The Bears posted 46 kills as a team to the Roos 26 while KC was outscored in digs 61-45, 41-24 in assists and 9-5 in blocks. Kansas City did double up the Bears in aces, 6-3 with Megan Lawson earring three of the Roos team total. KC had nine more attack errors than the Bears, who notched 12 for the match. Emry Brown had a team-high seven kills while Mia Weaver, Ledisi Kpea and Ryanne Wattree finished with five kills each. Alaina Larson registered 16 digs to lead the team, making it her sixth match this season with double figure digs.
The Roos turn the page to a new chapter, Summit League play, which begins on Thursday at 7 p.m. in St. Paul, Minn. when the Roos take on St. Thomas.
