Lanham Breaks Program 200-Meter Outdoor Record at KT Woodman Classic

Tory Lanham runs a 20.59, a new career-best and top 200m time in the Summit League
WICHITA, KAN. - Kansas City Track & Field brought their 'A' game to the table, showcasing a well rounded effort at the KT Woodman Classic hosted by Wichita State. Several Roos notch career-best outings and top 10 performances across a bevy of events on the track and in the field.Â
Paving the path forward for Kansas City was Tory Lanham who yet again put on a record-breaking performance. The Summit League Indoor Championships MVP ran a 20.59 second time in the 200-meter dash, breaking his own previously set record of 21.07 set in the 2024 outdoor season. On the women's side, Sarah Wulfert broke through with a 100m time of 11.90, making her second all-time in Roos history for the women's outdoor 100m.Â
TOP PERFORMERSÂ
- Tory Lanham - Lanham's new program best marks in the 200m is the top time in the Summit League for the 2025 outdoor season. Additionally, Lanham now ranks tied for 13th nationally with his 20.59 time in the 200m. The sophomore has now broken the sub-21 second barrier twice this year, once with his prior career-best of 20.93 and now with his most recent gem of 20.59 at the KT Woodman Classic.Â
- Amari Eugene - Eugene continues his impressive stretch in the 200m, running a 21.40 in Wichita which was good for a top 20 finish in the event and is tied for the fifth best time in program history with Chadayne Walker's 21.40 time in 2017. Eugene's 21.40 breaks his previous best of 21.59 which he set in his third place effort at the Summit League Indoor Championships.Â
- Samuel Cleary - Kansas City took it up a notch on the distance running side of things and Cleary was a perfect example as the sophomore dashed a 31:30.67 in the 10,000-meter dash to come in ninth place overall. Cleary can now boast a new career-best in the 10,000m and resides in third place in the Summit League for the event.Â
- Joan Rocha-Navarro - Jumping back into action, Rocha-Navarro ran hard in the 1500-meter dash, recording a time of 3:56.89 to come in 15th place amongst stiff competition. Rocha-Navarro is now in 14th place overall in the Summit League for the men's 1500m.Â
- Mariah Belmont - The freshman delivered a superb performance in the 3000-meter steeplechase, recording a time of 11:28.94 to come in fourth place overall. Belmont's time is also the fourth best in school history for the women's 3000-meter steeplechase and ranks eighth in the Summit League.Â
- Nahshon Houston - Houston set mutliple career-bests in Wichita on Saturday. Most notably, the senior jumper lept a 14.67 meter mark in the triple jump, beating his prior best of 14.22 set at last year's outdoor conference meet. Additionally, Houston ran a 10.65 second time in the 100-meter dash to come in 32nd place overall and erase his prior best of 10.81 that he had set in the Roos previous meet at the CMU Invite.Â
