For the second-straight year, Lanham has laid claim to the Summit's top track honor
EUGENE, Ore. - For the second consecutive season, Tory Lanham finds himself among the top 200-meter runners in the nation. Lanham capped his junior campaign with a 14th-place finish in the 200m national semifinal, finishing fifth in his heat with a time of 20.45 seconds. With the result, he earned Second Team All-American status in the event for the second-straight year, becoming just the second athlete in Kansas City Men's Track and Field history to make multiple All-American teams.
Lanham's official time of 20.450 was just 0.059 seconds outside of qualifying to the national championship race, besting his time at last year's national semifinal by seven-hundredths of a second. He was the lone Summit League representative in the 200m race on the men's side and of the 13 runners with times faster than his, 10 represented power conference schools.
In addition to his All-American status, Lanham was named The Summit League Men's Track Athlete of the Year for the second year in-a-row. He was consistently the league's top sprinter, winning his third-straight outdoor 200-meter dash. He notched a season-best 20.34 in the Summit League preliminary round, winning the event with a time of 20.39 in the finals. He also took a gold medal as part of the Roos' 4x100-meter team and claimed a silver as member of the 4x400-meter team.
Lanham is just the second Kansas City student-athlete in program history to win Summit League Athlete of the Year honors in back-to-back seasons, joining Deandre Free (2001-02).
Lanham finished the 2025-26 year with 10 appearances in the 200, running the event five times during the indoor season and five times during outdoor. He reached the podium four times during indoor season, claiming first place at the Show-Me Showdown, the Missouri Invitational and the Summit League Indoor Championship. He was top-three in both of his regular season 200-meter races, winning the Summit League Championship before his National Championship run.
