Roos brace for impact of third outdoor meet following two-week hiatus
Kansas City Track & Field gets set to compete in their third meet of the outdoor season. The Roos will run and jump at the KT Woodman Classic, hosted by Wichita State this weekend. The meet begins Friday, April 11 where the Roos will dash primarily in distance races and conclude with sprints, mid-distance and jumping field events on Saturday, April 12. So far this outdoor season, the Roos have taken part in the Jayhawk Spring Fling and CMU Invite.Â
Roos To WatchÂ
- Nahshon Houston - Houston has been a star of the show thus far for KC this spring. A gold medalist at the 2025 Summit League Indoor Championships, Houston sports the top long jump mark in the outdoor season at 7.42 meters. Houston is also coming off a career-best outing in the 100-meter dash where he darted a 10.81 second time at the CMU Invite, one of three personal bests the senior has set this outdoor season.Â
- Tory Lanham - The 2025 Summit League Indoor Men's Track MVP will look to start his sophomore outdoor campaign with a bang as Lanham is set to take a stab at the 100-meter and 200-meter dash at the KT Woodman Classic this weekend. Lanham took gold in the 200m at last year's Summit League Outdoor Championships, running a 21.07 to take the title as a freshman. In the 100m, Lanham finished with a season-best time of 10.42 seconds at last season's Rock Chalk Invite.Â
- Joan Rocha-Navarro - Last time out during outdoor season, Rocha-Navarro ran a 3:50.06 time in the 1500-meter dash at the 2024 conference meet. The senior's career-best time in the 1500m came at last year's Arkansas Twilight meet where Rocha-Navarro ran a 3:47.81 to finish top 15 in the competition. Rocha-Navarro will provide a spark to the Roos distance squad at this weekend's meet at Wichita State.Â
