Hannah Burks pitched a complete game for her first collegiate win over NDSU

KANSAS CITY - Kansas City Softball (4-19, 1-1 Summit) picked up a big bounce-back win over North Dakota State (14-17, 1-1 Summit) this afternoon, splitting with the Bison in a league-opening doubleheader. NDSU needed just six innings to take the first game, jumping out early for a 9-1 win. In game two, Hannah Burks stepped into the circle and tossed the best game of her collegiate career, going all seven innings and giving up just one earned run on five hits. Gianna Lickel, Sabrina Rogers and Katie Noble all notched multi-hit performances in the second game of the day with Noble logging a game-high two RBIs.

KEY MOMENTS GAME ONE

Bottom 1 / 0-4 | Grace Batdorf swatted a double out to left field that advanced Briona Woods to third and went down as the Roos first hit of the day.
Bottom 3 / 0-7 | Lickel worked her way into a favorable count and lined a one-out single that landed fair down the right field line.
Bottom 5 / 1-8 | The Roos got on the board thanks to Kendyl Anderson's big power swing that soared over the right field fence for a solo home run, her third of the season.

KEY MOMENTS GAME TWO

Bottom 1 / 1-0 | Following back-to-back singles by Woods and Lickel and a walk by Rogers, Noble drew a bases loaded walk to bring the game's first run to the plate.
Top 2 / 1-0 | Burks struck out North Dakota State's Lileigh Nieto to close out a scoreless second inning of work for the Roos.
Bottom 5 / 2-1 | Following base hits from Batdorf and Rogers, the Roos took the lead back from the Bison thanks to Noble's RBI sacrifice fly.
Bottom 5 / 3-1 | With Rogers standing at third base, Elleana Navarro clutched up her bat and delivered an RBI single to bring Rogers to the plate and extend the Roos lead out further.
Bottom 6 / 4-2 | Rogers played a big role in the sixth inning, slugging an RBI single out to left field which scored Woods to give the Roos an important insurance run down the stretch.
