Kansas City Closes Out Indoor Regular Season at Nebraska Tune-Up

Barlow & Kiefer run career-best times ahead of Summit League Indoor Championships

LINCOLN – Kansas City Track & Field traveled to their penultimate meet of the 2024-25 indoor season, finding success at the Nebraska Tune-Up on Friday afternoon. The Roos saw quite a few solid performances including career-best times from Evan Kiefer in the 5000-meter dash and Harper Barlow in the mile race. Additionally, the Roos saw several top five and 10 in the meet overall.

Key Results

Men's 800-meter dash - Three Roos ran in the 800-meter dash at the Nebraska Tune-up including freshman M.J. Foster who ran a 1:56.57, good for fifth place in the event. Connor Jacober came in seventh place with a time of 1:57.80, giving the freshman a season-best time in the 800m. Ian O'Neal recorded a time of 2:04.71 in his third meet of the indoor season.
Men's 5000-meter dash - Kansas City saw a new personal best time in the men's 5000m thanks to Kiefer delivering a time of 15:40.33, shaving over half a minute off his previous best time. Eli Block ran the 5000m for the first time in his collegiate career and finished with a time of 15:42.17, good for third place in the event.
Women's mile - Joining Kiefer in the personal best club is Barlow who ran a career-best time of 5:16.05 in the women's mile, placing top 12 at the Nebraska Tune-Up. Fellow cross country hybrid athlete Maggie Boley competed in the mile race and dashed a time of 5:30.74, to place top 16 in the event.
Women's long jump - Jaleesa McWashigton continued to impress, registering a mark of 5.44 meters in the long jump to finish sixth place in the event. Furthermore, Naomi Eyanagho lept a mark of 4.80 meters, her third highest mark in the long jump this indoor season.
