Notes: Kansas City Aims to Bounce Back, Hosts Austin Peay Saturday

Roos and Governors tip at 2 p.m. in the Swinney Center on the Summit League Network
Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City would reach an above .500 homestand with a win over Austin Peay. The Roos opened the stretch with a 121-43 victory over Hesston, but lost last time out to UTEP 75-64 last Tuesday. The Roos will aim to get back into the win column this Saturday vs. the Governors at 2 p.m. inside the Swinney Center.
- Kansas City is shooting the ball at a 53% clip from the field and 61% from three point range in their last three games. KC went 56% (9-16) from behind the arc against UTEP. The Roos notched 60%-plus marks from the field and from three against Hesston, making it just the third time its been done in program history.
- Kansas City's newfound outside shooting stroke is spearheaded by Jamyah Winter. The Lincoln Memorial graduate transfer has recorded three straight games of four-plus three pointers, shooting 16-25 (64%) from deep in that span and hitting at a 51% clip from three point range this season.Â
- Elauni Bennett is off to an All-League caliber start to her junior campaign. The Lee's Summit, Mo. native not only averages 16.3 and 7.7 RPG but also shoots 63% from the field, the second best mark in the conference and ranking 19th on the national scale. Bennett posted a career-high 26 points against Lindenwood.Â
- Kansas City continues to create chaos for their opponents, notching 22.3 turnovers forced a night, 11.0 steals per contest and holding a 6.7 turnover margin, all conference best marks in the Summit this season.
- Austin Peay heads into Kansas City at 3-1 on the 2025-26 season and winners of their last two games. Most recently, the Governors have taken down Indiana State 77-73 and Chattanooga 68-54.
- Austin Peay is an efficient basketball team as the Governors are shooting 49.8% from the field which leads the ASUN and ranks 16th in the country. The Governors also shoot 74.1% from the free throw line, the best mark in the ASUN.
- The Governors have similar strengths to the Roos, leading the ASUN in rebounding margin at 9.3 while also generating 21.8 turnovers per contest, leading the conference and ranking 60th in the country.Â
- Anovia Sheals leads the Governors in scoring, averaging 14.8 points per game which ranks fouth best in the ASUN. The defending ASUN Sixth Woman of the Year opened her sophomore season with a 23 point outing vs. Sewanee.
