Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City opened the 2024 season on a good note in the Golden State last week. The Roos opened the season with a 1-0 victory at Saint Mary's before a come-from-behind 2-2 draw with San Francisco.
- Elie Kisoka made an impressive splash in his first two games as a Roo, as he was involved in all three of KC's goals. He scored an 84th minute game-winner against SMC, sneaking a ball past the keeper from 25-plus yards out. Against the Dons, he assisted on the first goal, heading in the equalizing goal in the 84th minute once again.
- Raphael Kistmann was KC's other goal scorer last week, playing 50 total minutes against San Francisco and scoring in the 71st minute.
- Brandon McGaugh stepped into the goal mouth for the first time in a Kansas City uniform last week, opening the season with a three-save shutout of SMC. He made five saves against the Dons, giving him a league-leading .800 save percentage.
- Through the first two games of the season, four players have logged more than 150 minutes in the outfield. Ales Kohoutek (169), Julien Le Bourdoulous (165), Bryson Gosch (157) and Guille Munoz (156) have all earned the start and played 65-plus minutes in both games.
- The Roos have earned some respect through the RPI Update ranking system. KC's 1-0-1 start against the 33rd-toughest strength of schedule has placed them 27th in the RPI rankings.
UC Santa Barbara NotesÂ
- The Gauchos enter Thursday's match-up following a convincing 3-1 victory over Missouri State to open the season last week.
- UCSB's Alexis Ledoux and Peleg Brown earned Big West Player of the Week honors on Aug. 26. Ledoux scored twice and assisted once, while Brown played 73 scoreless minutes.
- Last season, the Gauchos went 10-8-2, including a 4-3-2 mark in Big West play. After earning the #3 seed in the conference tournament, UCSB qualified to the semifinal round.
- The Roos and Gauchos played on Sep. 16 of last year, the first meeting between the two squads in program history. UCSB came away with a 3-2 victory despite a pair of late goals by the Roos.
