Kansas City Hosts UT Dallas Saturday

The Roos and Comets play at 2 p.m. in the Swinney Center
THE STARTERS
- Kansas City Women's Basketball will look to improve its home record to 2-1 with a win over the UT Dallas Comets. The Roos defeated William Jewell, 74-32 in their season opener but fell to Lindenwood, 62-67 in their most recent home game.Â
- The Roos will look to snap a four-game losing streak after falling to No. 25 Nebraska 38-84 on Tuesday. Emani Bennett led the Roos in scoring for the fifth consecutive game scoring 11. Em. Bennett has scored in the double-digits in six of Kansas City's seven games this season. She leads the Roos in points averaging 12.1 per game.Â
- Tamia Ugass came up with two big blocks against No. 25 Nebraska and led the team in the category. Ugass ranks second on the team in blocks with four this season. She averages 0.7 blocks per game, putting her just behind Em. Bennett who averages 0.9.Â
- The Roos have solidified themselves as a threat on defense, leading the Summit League in steals per game and turnovers forced per game. The Blue and Gold average 10.3 steals per game putting them 89th in the country. On average they force 21.0 turnovers per game and rank 60th in the nation.Â
- After the game against UT Dallas, the Roos once again hit the road, traveling to Sacramento, Cal. to face Sacramento State in their first game of the Big-Sky Summit Challenge.Â
SCOUTING UT DALLAS
- The Comets enter the game with a 4-4 record coming off a 42-76 loss against Midwestern State on Tuesday. UT Dallas currently holds a 2-3 record on the road, picking up wins at Chapman and Redlands.Â
- This marks the first meeting between the Roos and the Comets in program history.Â
- Graduate Student Anna Yellen has been a key player for the Comets outside the arc. She has knocked down a team-leading 14 threes and went 4-for-8 in the win over Redlands.Â
- Alex Bowman leads the Comets in points with 108 on the season and averaging 13.5 points per game. She is also a critical piece for the Comets from the Charity stripe with a team-leading 21 free throws made this season.Â
- The Comets finished last season with a 20-6. Three Comets were named to ASC players to watch in the preseason poll.Â
