Kansas City sends 16 competitors to the 2024 Summit League Cross Country Championships
Kansas City begins postseason running on Saturday as the Roos are set to race in the 2024 Summit League Cross Country Championships in Vermillion, South Dakota. Last season, the Roos finished seventh in both the men's and women's Summit League title races. In 2024, Kansas City will look to improve on that mark with a strong and well rounded performance to potentially conclude the 2024 campaign.Â
Kansas City has run in three races this season, coming in fourth place in both the Bob Timmons Classic and the Platte River Rumble for the men and the women. The Roos have seen seven total runners claim top 25 individual placements, including a season best top three finish from freshman Kaleb Glazier a couple weeks ago. Kansas City will see 16 total competitors run on The Bluffs Golf Course, eight for the women's 6k at 11 a.m. and eight in the men's 8k at noon.Â
Roos To Watch:Â
- Maggie Boley - Highlighting the Roos crew for the conference championships women's 6k race will be sophomore Maggie Boley. The Blue Springs, Mo. native has totaled two top 25 placements for Kansas City, including a 15th place finish with a time of 23:37.2 in the Platte River Rumble women's 6k race. Boley's other standout showing came to open the season when she finished 25th with a 5k time of 20:16.4 at the Bob Timmons Classic.Â
- Madelyn Russell - Madelyn Russell delivered a superb outing last time out for the Roos, closing her last 6k race out with a stellar time of 24:17.6 to come in 26th for Kansas City. Russell's better 6k time came at the Gans Creek Classic earlier this season, where she posted a time of 23:56.9 in Columbia, Mo. Russell has finished second and third on the team in her last two races, and will look to carry that momentum into the Summit League Championships this Saturday.Â
- Kaleb Glazier - The Roos top runner this season has been none other than Kaleb Glazier. The true freshman has produced outstanding results, most notably last time out at the Platte River Rumble. There, Glazier recorded a time of 25:41.2, good for 3rd place in the men's 8k race with over 100 competitors. Glazier has also posted a team best time of 25:33.6 at the Gans Creek Classic and 19:29.6 at the Bob Timmons Classic, which was good for 15th place in the 6k race.Â
- MJ Foster - One of the more underrated runners this season for Kansas City has been MJ Foster. The freshman out of Liberal, Kan. made a name for himself in the Roos latest bout in Ashland. Foster produced a time of 27:48.2, fifth best on the team and good for 44th overall in the race. Foster will look to impress even more and help guide the Roos to a strong showing in the 2024 Summit League Championships.Â
Potentially up next for Kansas City is a trip to Peoria, IL where the Roos could participate in the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships on November, 15.
