Kaia Dunford led the Roos’ offense with a team-high 17 kills
ST. PAUL, MN- Kansas City fought valiantly but fell short in a hard-fought three-set match against St. Thomas (17-25, 17-25, 22-25). Kaia Dunford led the Roos' offense with 17 kills and a .279 hitting percentage, showcasing her consistency throughout the match. Sydney Henry ran the offense with 28 assists and contributed 3 kills, while Leah Green anchored the defense with 14 digs and added 2 aces. Sila Ozyurek made an impact with 5 kills, hitting .375, and Kimora Whetstone added defensive stability at the net with 3 blocks.

SET ONEÂ / 17-25: St. Thomas started strong with a 5-2 lead, but Kansas City fought back, with a kill from Sydney Henry bringing the Roos within 8-9. Despite key kills from Kaia Dunford and blocks from Kimora Whetstone, the Tommies capitalized on errors and extended their lead, closing the set 25-17.
SET TWO / 17-25: The Tommies tried to carry their momentum into the second set, but Kaia Dunford quickly halted their progress with back-to-back kills, giving Kansas City an early 3-1 lead. St. Thomas responded with a four-point run to edge ahead 5-6. The Roos continued to trail, but Sydney Henry set up Kailee Deffebaugh for a well-executed kill, cutting the deficit to 8-14. Despite the Roos' efforts, including kills from Kimora Whetstone and Dunford, the Tommies maintained control and closed out the set 25-19.
SET THREE / 22-25:Kansas City opened the third set with a kill from Kimora Whetstone to take the first point. Leah Green brought the Roos within one at 8-9 with a service ace, and shortly after, Kaia Dunford leveled the score at 10-10 with a kill. However, St. Thomas responded with a run that pushed the Roos to trail as both teams traded points. The Roos mounted a comeback late in the set, closing the gap to 22-24 after a kill from Sila Ozyurek, forcing a timeout from the Tommies. Despite the rally, a service error ended the set in favor of St. Thomas at 25-22.
