KANSAS CITY NOTES
- The Roos have been through the gauntlet through non-conference play, taking on two top-25 teams (Missouri State, SIUE) and another pair of teams that are perineal NCAA Tournament qualifiers (Creighton, UCSB). To cap it off, the Roos still have one non-conference match to go, a road trip to No. 10 Louisville on Oct. 2.Â
- Kansas City looks to open Summit League play on a high note, taking on Omaha tomorrow. Since rejoining the Summit, the Roos are 2-0-1 in conference openers, including a 2-1 win over Lindenwood last season.
- A first-year starter, Stefano Camerlengo has stepped in and become a top goalkeeper in the league. He is averaging 4.67 saves per game to lead the league and rank 19th in the nation. His save percentage off .700 ranks second in the Summit.
- Hector Taboada has returned to the starting lineup in each of the Roos' past two games, making his presence felt by tallying an assist in both games. He is now tied for the team lead with two goals and six total points, both of which are also top-10 in the Summit League.
- After failing to score in the first three games of the season, the Roos have made some slight schematic adjustments and found an offensive rhythm. KC is averaging 2.25 goals per game over the past four games and the team's season average of 1.29 goals per game ranks fourth in the Summit.
Omaha Notes
- The Mavericks have opened the season with a 3-3-1 record, going 3-0-1 across the past four games. That includes their most recent contest, a 1-0 win over UTRGV last Saturday.
- Last year's meeting between these two teams resulted in a draw, with Kazuki Kimura securing the equalizing goal in the 89th minute of play.
- The Mavs are led offensively by Junior Casillas and Ede Gramberg, each of whom have tallied four goals on the year. That mark ties them for third in the league standings.
- As a team, Omaha excels at distributing the offense, averaging a league-leading 2.86 assists per game. That mark is also one of the tops in the nation, ranking ninth in the NCAA.
