Shemarri Allen scored 21 points in the second half and Kansas City dropped 47 second half points 47 as a team in the win
MACOMB, Ill. - In a game with big implications for the fast approaching Summit League Championships, Kansas City Men's Basketball (11-15, 7-6 Summit) used a big second half to pull away from Western Illinois (15-10, 8-6 Summit), winning 76-64. Shemarri Allen was the catalyst, scoring 21 of his game-high 26 points in the second half, adding four rebounds and four assists.
Western Illinois took a one-point lead into the half, but a RayQuawndis Mitchell three-pointer on the first possession of the second half gave the Roos a lead that they would not surrender for the rest of the game. Allen scored six points during an 11-4 run by Kansas City midway through the half that created all the separation KC needed to pull out the win.
Mitchell knocked down a game-high four three-pointers, needing just seven attempts to do so. He finished with 16 points, while Babacar Diallo had the best game of his career so far, scoring 15 points and pulling down a game-leading eight rebounds.

COACH MARVIN MENZIES, QUOTED
Â
"We really stepped up when we needed to defensively. We were just exchanging baskets for a while, and I thought the guys did a really good job when I requested them to do a couple of things differently."
"We ended up 17-plus on the glass against a team that beat us last time, so that was good stuff. It's just toughness, and that's one of our core values."
