Roos Host Utah State, Play Kansas at Municipal

Kansas City will face Utah State in the Swinney Center before facing KU at Municipal Auditorium Saturday
Starting Five
- The Roos will look to pick up their second home win of the season against Utah State. Kansas City opened its season with a 73-66 win over Bradley, making it the second consecutive year the Roos opened the season with a win.
- Sophomore guard Alayna Contreras leads the Roos offensively averaging 14. 5 points per game. She also leads the Roos in minutes and assists averaging 33.5 minutes and 4.0 assists per game.
- On the defensive end, graduate forward Ifunanya Nwachukwu has made her mark. Nawachukwu is averaging 10.0 rebounds per game and 2.5 blocks per game, leading the team in both categories. She picked up 12 rebounds against Bradley and put up another career-high performance against UTEP with four blocks. She also earned her first career three in the same matchup.
- In the first two games of the season the 11 newcomers accounted for 119 of the Roos' 133 points, 89.5% of the total points.
- The Roos matchup against Kansas will be their first matchup against a power five school since Dec. 7, 2022, when the Roos took on Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan.
- Utah State enters the matchup looking to pick up its first win of the season. The Aggies faced CSUN in their season opener, losing 79-64 and fell to Eastern Washington 75-39 in their home opener.
- This will be the first matchup in program history between the Roos and the Aggies.
- Junior forward Bridget Mullings leads the Aggies in scoring averaging 12.5 points per game. Mullings dropped eight points against Eastern Washington and 17 against CSUN.
Kansas Notes
- This will be the first time the Roos and the Jayhawks have in five years. In the last matchup, the Roos fell 67-55 to the Jayhawks in Lawrence.
- Last season, Kansas finished the season by winning the WNIT. The Jayhawks defeated Columbia 66-59 to take the title. In the preseason poll, Kansas was selected to finish third in the Big 12 behind Texas and Baylor.
- Wyvette Mayberry led the Jayhawks offensively in their first game of the season leading the team in points and assists with 17 and five respectively.
