35' | Best opportunity of the day so far as Ririka Kamimura tries to connect with a running @13stephens, but the shot is high of the mark.#ROOUP | #DeclareKC pic.twitter.com/jc90UhWVup

COACH JESS SMITH, QUOTED
On the team's second half struggles
"We have to continue doing a better job on the defensive end. If you look at what happened in the SLU game, we did not deal with the adversity of giving up a goal early in the second half. We managed that a little bit better … we withstood a lot tonight. This is just another moment that's going to help us in conference play."
On coaching against her alma mater
"It's an incredible opportunity to be able to come back home, in many regards, and play in a great facility against a great team. I'm proud of how we fought tonight. We're dealing with some injuries right now and I thought the team did a fantastic job. We'll take a lot from it."
On the upcoming match against Missouri State
"It's going to be a quality battle. I know our players are really hungry and I'm sure they are too. It's going to be a matter of how well we recover and forget about tonight."
UP NEXT
The Roos travel to Springfield, Mo. on Sunday for a meeting with Missouri State. The Roos took a win against the Bears last season, 2-1.
