Men's Soccer Hosts Lindenwood to Open Summit Play

The Roos will take on the league newcomer Lions on Saturday at 7 p.m.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -Â Fresh out of non-conference play, Kansas City hosts Summit League affiliate newcomer Lindenwood for the first time in program history on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Kansas City Notes
- The Roos come off a draw against Mercer last Friday. Despite managing just seven shots on the game, the Roos got the 64th minute equalizer from Yahel Anderson-Gonzalez, his first career goal.
- Kansas City has out-shot its opponents in three-of-six games, managing a 2-1-0 record in such contests.
- The Roos were down two of their starting forwards against the Bears, playing without Christian Koffi or Philipp Basara. Even so, the pair still rank first and third on the team in shot attempts and shots on goal.
- Just four players, Kazuki Kimura, Kotaro Hirokawa, Camden Baker and Cooper Clark, have started all six matches for the Roos. Four others have earned five starts, and in total, 17 student-athletes have notched at least one start.
- Kansas City has relied on youth in the early season. Freshmen Camden Baker, Bryson Gosch, Samuel Nagy and Jack Dean all rank top-eight on the team in minutes played.
- Koffi's name is scattered across the Summit League leaderboards, ranking top-three in assists per game (0.6, 1st), points per game (1.0, 3rd), shot accuracy (0.583, 1st), shots per game (2.4, 3rd) and shots on goal per game (1.4, 2nd).
Lindenwood NotesÂ
- Lindenwood picked up its first win as a Division One program last week, taking down Southern Indiana on Friday. The Lions are 1-4-1 on the season.
- The Lions most recent meeting came on Wednesday against Butler, falling in a 9-0 decision.
- Lindenwood has scored four goals on the season, each by a different student-athlete. Anis Smajlovic is the team's points leader, notching one goal and two assists.
- Both the Lions and Roos dropped early-season one-goal decisions to Drake.
