Slow Third Quarter Drops Women's Basketball Against Omaha

E'Lease Stafford scored 19 points to lead KC in the loss
KANSAS CITY Mo. - Kansas City Women's Basketball (4-11, 0-4 Summit) dropped a hard-fought battle to Omaha (6-7, 1-1 Summit) this afternoon by a score of 75-64. E'Lease Stafford led the way in scoring with 19 and Machia Mullens lead the team on the boards with 11.
Kansas City went shot-for-shot in the first half with Omaha, winning the first quarter 19-16 and only trailing 32-31 at halftime. However, Omaha would shoot 72.7% in the third quarter and outscore Kansas City 27-17 to distance themselves heading into the final period.
The Roos would go on a 7-0 run late in the fourth quarter to cut the Omaha lead to just five, but the Mavs would respond with a 7-1 run to put the Roos' rally to rest.

- 1Q – 5:30 / 8-6 | Stafford kicked out a pass to Manna Mensah who drilled a three to give the Roos an early edge.

- 2Q – 4:01 / 27-21 | Green kicked out her third assist of the day to Mensah who nailed a three to give the Roos their biggest lead of the day.
- 2Q – 0:59 / 31-28 | Stafford made a driving layup in the closing minute of the half to put the Roos up three.
- 3Q – 8:14 / 35-35 | Jocelyn Ewell got an offensive rebound and put it back up herself to knot the score early in the second half.
- 3Q – 6:01 / 43-41 | RaVon Nero assisted Stafford on a three-pointer to put the Roos back up.
- 4Q – 3:07 / 63-68 | Green's shot was blocked but she gots her own miss and put it up and in to cap off a 7-0 Roos run. Omaha would go on to hold the Roos to just one more point and win by 11.
STATS TO NOTE
- For the fourth-straight game Mullens led the Roos in rebounds, grabbing 11 boards.
- Mensah hit three of her four shots from behind the arc, putting her at 6-of-13 on the season.
- The Roos had more offensive rebounds, assists and bench points than Omaha, but hit 13 less free throws on 13 less attempts.
