Kansas City Opening Tip
• Kansas City travels to the third annual The Islands of the Bahamas Showcase in Nassau, Bahamas where the Roos take on George Washington (1-3) in the first of three games at the Showcase. Tip-off Friday from the Baha Mar Convention Center is 4 pm CT.
• The Roos will face either Evansville or East Carolina on Saturday at 1 or 7 pm CT. Sunday is the third and final game for Kansas City with an opponent and time TBD.
• The three teams in the Kansas City bracket represent three different conferences. George Washington is out of the Atlantic 10 Conference, Evansville is out of the Missouri Valley Conference and East Carolina is a member of the American Athletic Conference.
• There are eight teams at the Showcase. Kansas City is in the bottom half of the bracket. The other four teams on the top half of the bracket are Liberty, Morgan State, Rice and Milwaukee.
The Starting Five
1. This weekend will be some firsts for the Roos. The Showcase marks the first time in the Division I era that Kansas City has played in the Bahamas. Also, the meetings with the three scheduled opponents - George Washington, Evansville and East Carolina - will be a first for the Roos.
2. By connecting on six three-pointer's as a team in the Monday win against Bacone, the Roos have now gone 302-straight games with making at least one trey. The streak dates back to January, 2000.
3. Through five games this year, Kansas City has already established or tied three new single-game school records. Those include the most assists (tied) with 30 against Avila (11/5) and the most field goals made of 48 and scoring margin of +73 against Bacone (11/18).
4. Kansas City is No. 1 in the conference in five statistical categories, including assists per game (17.6) and steals per game (11.8). The Roos have more than doubled the opponents total in the steals column (59-25) and is +30 in assists (88-58).
5. The grueling non-conference schedule for the Roos will test their ability to win on the road. The three games at the Showcase this weekend caps a stretch of six-of-eight opening the year away from Kansas City. Overall, 10-of-14 non-conference games are played off the Kansas City campus.
Going Deep
• Kansas City enters the tournament with a streak of 302-straight games making at least one three-pointer. The last time the team failed to connect from deep was on Jan. 22, 2000 against Oakland when the Roos were 0-for-13. This year, Kansas City averages 7.2 make's per game with a game-high of 12 against Avila (11/5).
Setting Records
• Here is a list of single-game school records the Roos have set so far this year:
   - Assists in game (30) vs Avila (11/5)
   - Made FGs in game (48) vs Bacone (11/18)
   - Scoring margin (+73) vs Bacone (11/18)
Hitting the Century Mark
• The Roos have now reached the 100-point threshold twice this year: 102 vs Avila (11/5) and 111 vs Bacone (11/18). You have to go back to the 1992-93 season when Kansas City scored at least 100 points in at least two games. That year, the Roos hit the mark three times.
• In the Division era, Kansas City has scored 100 points three times in a season on three different occasions. Those seasons are 1989-90, 1990-91 and 1992-93 campaigns.
Experience is Vital
• Senior Rob Whitfield (11.0 ppg) and junior Brandon McKissic (10.5) are the returning letter winners that averaged double-digits in scoring last season. Overall, 53% of the scoring returns for the 2019-20 campaign.
• McKissic, an All-WAC Defensive Team member, is joined by senior Jordan Giles (8.4 ppg) and junior Marvin Nesbitt Jr. (4.3 rpg), as the trio of returning starters who received a starting nod in at least 60% of last year's games.
• Senior Jordan Giles is the only player on the Kansas City roster who is in his fourth season with all his games played in a Roo uniform.
Last Time Out Against Bacone (Monday)
• The Kansas City Men's Basketball (2-3) team snapped a three-game skid with a 111—38 victory over Bacone College (Okla.) Monday at the Swinney Center. The 73-point margin of victory and 48 made field goals both set a new school record. Senior Javan White had 24 points and 15 rebounds and freshman Josiah Allick collected 12 points and career-high 10 boards.
• By the time Bacone hit double-digits in points at the 7:48 mark, Kansas City already lit up the scoreboard for 31. The Roos stretched out the lead to 33 in the first half and went into the locker room up 52-20. At that point, the Roos shot 60 percent and six players had at least five points.
