Edwardsville, Ill. – Lilly Cobb made the most of what amounted to a personal homecoming of sorts, scoring her first collegiate goal to lead UMKC to a 1-1 double-overtime draw with SIUE on Sunday afternoon.
The Edwardsville (Ill.) High School alum put the visitors on the board in the 19th minute, receiving a through ball from Kaely Tott and beating the goalkeeper one-on-one to give the Kangaroos an early 1-0 advantage.
The 'Roos (2-2-2) would go the next 100 minutes without scoring, but it wouldn't be for a lack of manufactured opportunities, as Kaely Tott, Sarah Todd, and Ellie Chadick combined to put seven shots on goal, but to no avail.
On the other end, UMKC goalkeeper Nina Tzianos met her own pressure from the SIUE attackers, but made eight saves to keep the home team at bay for the better part of regulation. Tznaios' shutout would come to an end in the 73rd minute, however, as Katye Skrivan was awarded a penalty kick. Skrivan capitalized with the equalizer, setting the eventual final margin.
The 'Roos completed their Illinois road swing with a 1-0-1 mark, outscoring their opponents 5-2 in two games. They'll return to the friendly confines of Durwood Stadium on Friday to host Western Illinois at 4 p.m.
