Tzianos, 'Roos Salvage Draw With Oral Roberts

Tulsa, Okla. -- UMKC goalkeeper Nina Tzianos fought off a flurry of Oral Roberts attempts to salvage a 1-1 tie in a double-overtime match at Case Soccer Complex on Friday.
Freshman forward Kara Priest struck early for the 'Roos (1-1-1), polishing off the game's opening goal in the ninth minute off of a cross from Ellie Chadick. The goal was Priest's second in three games this season.
On the other end, the Golden Eagles (0-2-1) were firing shots at an astonishing rate, outshooting the 'Roos 10-4 in the first half and 15-4 in the second half. Unfortunately for the hosts, there were two variables inhibiting their success: inaccuracy and Tzianos.
Of ORU's 29 shots, only 10 were on net, and nine of those 10 were redirected by the Kangaroos' keeper.
One of the 29 attempts snuck through, however -- a Maria Stordahl goal in the 71st minute off of a defensive breakdown -- knotting the eventual final score at one goal apiece.
The 'Roos will continue the Tulsa Invitational on Sunday when they take on the University of Tulsa at Hurricane Stadium. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m.
