In her final match at the SRC, senior Emily Lucas led the Kangaroos with 18 kills and a season-high 20 digs for her 13th double-double of the season, while fellow senior Ella Meier added 23 assists and three kills on Senior Day in Kansas City.
A third UMKC senior, Brittany Fossier, added four kills and a team-high four blocks, while the fourth 'Roo senior, Brittney Robers, notched one of the squad's five aces.
The Kangaroos opened the match with a 25-22 first set win, using a 10-3 run with the score tied at 11 to build a 21-14 advantage. The Jackrabbits would close to two late at 24-22, but a kill by freshman Jessica Hendin sealed the win.
Set two followed a similar pattern to set one, as the 'Roos held a 21-15 lead late in the set. SDSU again battled back, closing the gap to three at 24-21, but a UMKC kill, this time by freshman Emma Hagedorn, gave the 'Roos the 25-21 set win and a 2-0 lead heading into intermission.
Coming out the break, South Dakota State sliced the UMKC lead in half with a 25-19 third set victory, but the 'Roos quickly answered with 25-16 fourth set win, closing the match out with four straight points.
Offensively, for the Kangaroos, Hagedorn and Hendin recorded 14 and 12 kills, respectively, while Nicole Wemhoff registered a team-high 24 assists.
In the back row, Taryn Miller finished with a career-high 29 digs, while Hendin (10) and Wemhoff (15) each reached double figures for their 11th and fourth double-doubles of the season, respectively.
Lindsay Zych, meanwhile, was the final 'Roo with double-digit digs, notching 11.
The Blue & Gold will back in action again on Thursday when they head north to take on Omaha at 7 p.m.
