
Jaguars Down Kangaroos In Three

In the opening set, UMKC jumped ahead early 5-3 before building its lead to as many as five at 16-11. The Jaguars though, answered with seven straight points to build an 18-16 lead over the 'Roos. UMKC fought back to tie the set late at 23, but back-to-back points from IUPUI gave the Jags a 25-23 win and a 1-0 lead in the match.
In set two, IUPUI built a four point lead at 11-7, before the Kangaroos pulled to within one at 12-11 midway through the set. The Jags again built their lead to four at 20-16, but three straight UMKC points cut the lead to one at 20-19. IUPUI though, scored the final five points of the set for a 25-19 win.
In the third set, the Kangaroos built a 7-5 lead on a kill from Fossier, but IUPUI scored eight of the next 11 points to take a 13-10 lead. The Jags then built their lead to six at 18-12, before a 10-3 UMKC run, capped by a kill from senior Christiana McQuin, put the 'Roos in front 22-21. IUPUI though, scored the final four points to take the set 25-22 and the match 3-0.
For the 'Roos, senior Nicole Kerkman (14), junior Emily Lucas (14), and junior Ella Meier (11) all finished with 10 or more digs, while Meier and junior Brittney Robers finished with 11 and 21 assists, respectively. At the net, McQuin finished with four blocks, giving her the UMKC career record for block assists.
The Blue & Gold will be back in action again on Monday when they host North Dakota State in a Summit League contest at 7 p.m.
